Book Scenario Tag (ORIGINAL/BASED ON BEAUTY SCENARIO TAG)

I created my own tag!!! This is based on the Beauty Scenario Tag. I changed the questions so they applied to books!

1. You have to get rid of all of your fantasy, dystopian, and sci-fi books (YA or not). You can only keep one expensive book and one cheap book. What do you keep??

For my expensive book, I choose Insurgent by Veronica Roth. I know it wasn't super expensive, but I bought the hardcover and the collector's edition, so... For my cheap book, I choose Shatter Me by Taherah Mahfi. I got it for $3.75. HARDCOVER...

2. You go for an interview. The lady interviewer is reading your favorite contemporary book. What is it?

Looking For Alaska by John Green.

3. You're not feeling yourself and need a pick-me-up. Which book do you reread to make yourself feel great?

Cinder by Marissa Meyer. I LOVE THAT BOOK.

4. You go back in time to your elementary, middle school, or high school years. What would you change about your reading "style"?

I would start reading YA and teenage books earlier.

5. Your most highly anticipated release this year (what is it?) is available for pre-order at the bookstore. it comes out a few days early, but when you go to get it, the bookstore has accidentally reserved another one of your highly anticipated releases (what is it?). Do you just take the book and don't complain to the store, take the book but also reserve the book you originally wanted, or give the book back and demand a free copy of the book you ordered?

I would take the book, but reserve the one I originally wanted. My two top releases this year are The One by Kiera Cass and City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare.

6. A friend surprises you with a 4-day break to your dream destination. You can only pack one book. What do you pack????

Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry by Mildred Taylor. You can't get tired of this book, even if you're reading it over and over and over.

7. Your house has been robbed. Everything is safe except for your books. What is the book that you really hope is safe?

Dorothy's Dream. It originally belonged to my grandmother, who gave it to my mother, who gave it to me.

8. Your friend borrows a book and returns it in horrible condition. Do you a) pretend not to notice, b) ask them to repurchase it, or c) do the same to one of their books?

I would ask them to repurchase it, because I wouldn't want to ruin one of their books, but i'm a sucker for condition.

I tag Bekah AwesomeBookNut!!

Girl Power Books!! (Women's History Month!)

For today's blog, I decided to talk about books, both fiction and nonfiction, that really represent girl power and women's rights. This is a really important cause to me! Please feel free to talk about the books you want to read or have read that represent the power of us ladies. So, let's get started! (these are books I haven't read)

1. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
Lizzie Bennett is a really strong character who sticks it to the man, so I really want to read about her.

2. The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank
I REALLY want to read about Anne Frank. I've read a ton of books about her, but I haven't read her diary. She was so courageous and sweet.

3. Esperanza Rising by Pan Munez Ryan
Esperanza reinvents herself and is very compassionate and brave in the story.

4. Shabanu: Daughter of the Wind by Suzanne Fisher Staples
This is a book about a girl living in Pakistan who must make a choice: freedom or family honor.

5. Girl Power: Young Women Speak Out by Hillary Carlip
Girls from a variety of backgrounds, cultures, and perspectives write letters, poems, stories, and notes about their worries, hopes, dreams, and experiences.

6. Sold by Patricia McCormick
Lakshimi leaves her home in Nepal thinking she's going to work in the city as a maid. Instead, the thirteen year-old discovers she's been sold into India's sex slave trade.

7. The Women Who Raised Me by Victoria Rowell
Rowell writes about her time in the foster-care system and how she rose out of it.

8. The Rise of Enlightened Sexism by Susan J. Douglas
This book tells of how media and pop culture affects women today.

9. Growing Up With Girl Power by Rebecca C. Hains
The ultimate girl power guide.

10. Fight Like A Girl by Lisa Bevere
How should a woman define herself?

Thank you SO much for reading! There will be a post about YA Fiction girl power books coming up soon, so stay tuned for that, and don't forget to enter my giveaway on YouTube!! Bye!

I'm Back!!!!! (Bookish Spiderman Tag)

I'm SO, SO, SO sorry for the brief hiatus this month. I've been extremely busy with school and some other stuff, but I am back!! And, for today, I'm going to be doing the Bookish Spiderman Tag. I was tagged by abookadaykeepsthelibrarianaway, so, if you haven't already, please check her out.
This tag was created by TheReading Rhodes, so click the video on the right to watch it! So, let's get into it!

So, the premise of the tag is you have to choose a book character to fit the character from Spiderman, and then, at the end, they are all put together for a description of the story you've created. Let's get started!!!!!

1. Peter Parker (favorite male character/main character/hero)
This one is a little obvious, but I choose Harry Potter. He's a wizard and he's kind, funny, sweet, cute, and just a great character. He's very brave as well.

2. Harry Osborn (male character/best friend that turns against hero)
I choose Al from Divergent. I know that's a little iffy, but I love Al, even after the horrible things he did. He was battling demons, and, in that rush, he turned against Tris because he was so hurt.

3. Gwen Stacy (female character/love interest)
For Gwen, I am copying the booktuber Bekah AwesoemBookNut (she is AMAZING, check her out). She said that Gwen Stacy dies, so she chose a character who she likes but isn't so attached to them. And I choose the same character Bekah chose- America from The Selection. I like America, but I just hated her in The Elite, so I would choose her. Plus, she has red hair, like Gwen.

4. Mary Jane Watson (female character/love interest/hero)
For Mary Jane, I choose Phoebe from Oh. My. Gods. Phoebe is very independent and kind. She's brave and witty. She's smart and she is such an amazing character. She's kind of different from America, which is probobably good for Harry.

5. Uncle Ben (father figure/uncle who eventually dies)
I choose Mr. Today from The Unwanteds. Mr. Todayis like the dad to all of the kids and even teachers and guardians in Artime, so he is an amazing father figure, and I think he would be a great dad for Harry.

6.  Aunt May (mother figure/aunt who raises hero)
I choose Amma from Beautiful Creatures. Even though you get a little upset with her at times, Amma is an amazing surrogate mother to Ethan after his mother dies...and before that, really.

7. Green Goblin (villain/arch enemy)
I choose Jeanine from Divergent. She is very ruthless and power-hungry, so it's very difficult to defeat her, which makes her a great villain. She thinks things out, and her last-minute moves are rare.\

8. New York City (place/location)
I choose Paris! Paris is the setting in Anna and the French Kiss and Getting A Life, Even If You're Dead. Paris just makes everything so amazing.

9. Stan Lee (author/creator)
I choose Lauren Oliver, who wrote Before I Fall, the Delirium trilogy, and Liesel and Po. She is a great author and I love her writing style and her character development.

Here's the description!

A brand new story by Lauren Oliver, featuring a hero named Harry Potter. He is raised by his Aunt Amma and his Uncle Today. His uncle eventually dies when killed by a random criminal. This inspires Harry to avenge his uncle and fight evil in Paris, their hometown. He falls in love with America Singer, who is killed by arch enemy Jeanine. Harry kills Jeanine in the fight that ensues after the tragic event. Jeanine's son, Al, who also happens to be Harry's best friend, takes his mother's place as arch enemy, seeking revenge. Soon after all of this occurs, Harry falls in love with Phoebe Castro, who joins him in his fight against evil by becoming a hero herself.

I hope you enjoyed this! Please do this tag! I tag YOU! Yes, YOU!!!!
